DESCRIPTION

Performs a variety of duties in the Ambulatory Surgery Center, as a member of the surgical team.  Scrubs on all types of cases performed at the Center, including orthopedic, pain and local cases.  Assists in preparation for cases by picking instruments and set-up and maintenance of sterile field.  May also function as surgeon’s second assistant.  Assist OR team in all aspects of room turnover.  Pick soft goods and instrumentation to facilitate preparation for following days’ surgery.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited training program. 1-2 years of ambulatory operating room experience preferred. Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program through NBSTSA. CST Certification required. Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills. Requires prolonged periods of standing in place at sterile field. Requires ability to perform lifting and transport of patients; and lifting of instrument trays and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and to organize work in order of importance.
