Hospitalists at Montefiore Nyack Hospital are physicians who are specially trained to deliver care to patients in the hospital. Their focus is caring for hospitalized patients and coordinating their care during their hospital stay.
Hospitalists get to know their patients in the hospital and their conditions, giving them personal attention. They keep the patient’s primary care physician fully informed. They visit patients daily and can respond quickly to changes in their conditions or to the results of diagnostic test results. They are like an in-house, temporary primary care physician while you are hospitalized.
They communicate with hospital staff, other specialists and diagnostic departments, as well as with patients and family members. When a patient is discharged, they return to the care of their primary care physician.
