Nyack, N.Y., March 17, 2026 – On March 10, Montefiore Nyack Hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the relocated and expanded Rockland County Bikur Cholim facilities at the hospital. This update, which includes Shabbos rooms and a food pantry, provides a space for patients and family members to uphold their traditions and receive the accommodations, assistance, and support they need while in Montefiore Nyack’s care.

The occasion marked the enduring partnership between Montefiore Nyack and the Jewish community, a relationship fostered by Rabbi Simon Lauber, founder of Bikur Cholim and continued with current Executive Director Rabbi Aron Rheiner. “With Rabbi Lauber and Rabbi Rheiner at the helm of Bikur Cholim, Montefiore Nyack Hospital has maintained a strong relationship with the organization for years,” said Mark Geller, MD, FACR, president and CEO of Montefiore Nyack. “Their steadfast commitment to helping others has advanced the progress of our services for the Jewish community.”

Celebration attendees included representatives from the offices of Congressman Mike Lawler and New York State Senator Bill Weber, along with various community leaders, including New Square Mayor Izzy Spitzer; Rabbi Chaim Zvi Ehrenreich of Chabad of Nyacks, Rabbi Yisroel Kahana, and Rabbi Joel Fried.

In addition, representatives from Rockland Hatzoloh and Kiryas Joel Hatzoloh were present, including community liaison to Nyack Hospital, Rabbi Reuven Austerlitz; Rockland Hatzoloh Captain, Abe Rosenberg; and Kiryas Joel Hatzoloh Captain, Yitzchok Shlomo Polatseck.
The event concluded with Bikur Cholim presenting an award to Dr. Geller for his outstanding support of the organization.
