If you have a lung disorder, such as long COVID, emphysema or cystic fibrosis, the Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Montefiore Nyack Hospital offers a highly experienced team dedicated to improving your quality of life.

The program is designed for patients with lung disorders who want to begin a monitored exercise and education program to improve their breathing. After being referred by your physician, you’ll receive a thorough evaluation and clearance from our medical director. Based on the results of this evaluation, a program will be customized by our team of exercise physiologists to meet your individual needs and goals.

Our program includes exercise training, breathing techniques, nutritional counseling and education. The main goal is to improve overall quality of life for every patient. 

Who’s Eligible?

Individuals with the following conditions or lung issues may be good candidates for pulmonary rehabilitation:

• COPD, such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis 
• Interstitial lung disease, such as sarcoidosis or pulmonary fibrosis
• Cystic fibrosis 
• Lung transplant 
• Long COVID   

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program accepts referrals from your pulmonologist or primary care physician.
