Manages day to day Health Information Management operations. In the absence of the Director, is responsible for the operations of the entire department.  Assist with developing and evaluating new and existing policies and procedures to ensure that they are consistent, accurate and complete following CMS, NYSDOH, The Joint Commission and Hospital requirements and guidelines. Develop and update department workflow standards as needed. Provide assistance with vision for planning, management, integration, and upgrades of all H.I.M. systems. Ensures standards and productivity are met and ensures that the correct procedures are followed. Provides Oversight and guidance to the HIM staff. Assist the director in improving workflow. Prepares productivity reports and monitors quality of work. Identifies and suggests changes regarding policy, productivity, and quality measures.  Coordinates project assignments by collaborating with project members, updating project schedules, and ensuring that all necessary parties are aware of project deadlines. Project management for testing, workflow enhancements and training of all systems.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in health information technology. Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in the Health Information Management field with strong communication and management skills, Microsoft Office 2000 or better to include Word, Excel and Power Point. EPIC knowledge and reporting.
RHIT/RHIA preferred. CCS, CPC Ideal. Knowledgeable of ICD-10, CPT-4 and APC/DRG. Must work well under pressure, ability to manage staff and multiple projects, demonstrate problem solving skills and logical thinking. Strong PC skills and experience with computer systems. Strong organizational skills, careful attention to detail and knowledge of HIM workflow/processes and data collection. Must communicate well with professionals at all levels both internal and external to the organization. Participate in professional organizations including AHIMA.
