Nyack, N.Y. April 5, 2023 – Montefiore Nyack Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Jacobs as Chairman of the Hospital’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Jacobs succeeds Richard Kohlhausen who served as Montefiore Nyack Hospital Board Chair for 10 years and as Trustee for 15 years.
During Mr. Kohlhausen’s tenure, Montefiore Nyack Hospital grew in size and stature offering an increasing number of comprehensive services in new and improved facilities. He oversaw the Hospital’s affiliation with the Montefiore Health System and provided direct input on the Hospital’s Transformation Project which included the construction of a brand new state-of-the-art Emergency Department; Cardiac Catheterization lab; Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center; Ambulatory Surgery Center; LGBTQ+ Community Clinic; and an on-campus parking structure.

I am also pleased to announce that Dick has agreed to stay on as Chairman Emeritus” said Mark E. Geller, MD, President and CEO of Montefiore Nyack Hospital. “I am equally pleased to welcome Mark Jacobs as our new Board Chair, as well as Sean Walsh and Rick Borelli as new Board members.”
Mr. Jacobs, who will continue to serve as Board Chair of the Montefiore Nyack Hospital Foundation, is an ardent philanthropist and has been instrumental in raising millions of dollars in support of the Hospital. The Jacobs Family Maternity Center, dedicated to his father Marty Jacobs, and The Jacobs Family Pride Wellness Center, are two prime examples of Mark’s personal commitment to raising the bar for exceptional community healthcare. Under his leadership, Montefiore Nyack’s Foundation Board has doubled in size and has become a vibrant entity in the pursuit of resources that support improving and increasing Hospital services.
Until his appointment as Chair, Mr. Jacobs also served as the Hospital’s Board of Trustees
Vice Chair.
Montefiore Nyack Hospital’s Board of Trustees is comprised of community members with diverse backgrounds in medicine, business, finance, academics and the creative worlds who are connected by a passion for our community and its hospital. It is the Board of Trustees’ responsibility to provide oversight of the Hospital and serve as ambassadors to the community raising awareness of Montefiore Nyack Hospital’s vital services available to local and regional residents.
