DESCRIPTION

The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) is responsible for coordination of Nyack Hospital Trauma
Program and participation in the trauma experience with structured care to the injured patient. Expected to achieve Level II
trauma designation as outlined by the American College of Surgeons. Participate in local and regional trauma committees,
representing Nyack Hospital’s trauma program. Obtain federal grants as needed for supplies and training. Serve as a clinical
resource, assist with education of staff, data collection, entry, monitoring, along with PI programs. Create programs and
present to hospital administration in collaboration with the Trauma Program medical director. Meet frequently with EMS to
create effective communication and team building to benefit patient care. Participate in direct patient care as needed.

Maintain a proficient understanding and knowledge of the Trauma Service organization and organizational documents
including:

  • Federal and Department of State Health Services rules and regulations on Trauma Systems, trauma facilities and
  • Regional Advisory Councils
  • American College of Surgeons
  • Joint Commission
  • National Data Bank and State Trauma Registry
  • Nyack Hospital organizational structure and policies
  • Trauma Service standards, policies and procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain Level 2 Trauma Designation
  • Develop and maintains professional working relationships with physicians, nurses and other hospital staff to ensure Trauma
  • Service meets their needs while staying within approved guidelines.
  • Maintain and update Trauma Committee credentialing files.
  • Maintains the Trauma On‐Call Schedule
  • Developing in collaboration with physicians monthly trauma education.
  • Plans and coordinates the functions of the Trauma Program and Trauma Committee.

  • Updates, maintains all trauma logs and assists in tracking trauma patients throughout the continuum of care.
  • Prepares monthly and yearly reports; and special reports as requested
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; currently licensed as Registered Nurse
1. 2. Experience: 5 years of Emergency Nursing direct patient care, data collection, complete understanding of
American College of Surgeons Resource for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.
3. Training/Certification: Five to ten years of broad technical/medical experience, of which two to three years
should be in policy & procedure writing.
4. Other: Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Ability to accept and implement change.
 Ability to problem solving make decisions. Possession of critical thinking, analytical, teaching/coaching and research skills. Excellent communication skills. Supervisory experience preferred. Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point and all PC applications.
