Carin Shapiro, MD, MPH, FAAFP
Carin Shapiro, MD, MPH, FAAFP is a board-certified physician in Primary Care/Family Medicine. She practices at Highland Medical P.C., Orangetown Family Practice in Orangetown, NY. A Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Shapiro is also an instructor of Family Medicine in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. Prior to joining Highland Medical, P.C., Dr. Shapiro was the Director of Primary Care Services at Jawonio, Inc. and the Westchester Institute for Human Development at New York Medical College. She served as an attending physician who provided primary care specifically for individuals with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries. During her tenure in private practice, she also served as a school physician for the Nyack School District in Nyack, NY.Dr. Shapiro’s dedication to the health and well-being of the community was recognized in 2012 when she received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Rockland County Association for the Learning Disabled/Young Adult Institute. She also is active in Keep Rockland Beautiful.Dr. Shapiro received her medical doctorate at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY and completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Connecticut in Hartford, CT. Dr. Shapiro earned a Masters of Public Health from the Health Policy and Management Program at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. She holds professional memberships to the American Academy of Family Physicians, New York State Academy of Family Physicians and American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry.
